Sci-fi field guide- visual development

  Visual development Initially I am going to try a few drawings in different styles and mediums to see what works best. I want to avoid digital work, I usually work digitally but the quality of traditional drawing suits this project far more. Many of the drawings in this blog won't make it into the final version, but all of it is valuable research and practice for me. Really light sketchy style, doesn't scan very well. Digitally increased contrast. Got quite a nice quality to it when the contrast is increased, could consider this for elements of the 'journal'.  Sections will be accompanied by some skulls of some of the animals to follow, will be collected on one page in a surface pattern style.  I'm not sure about this, its not the style I will be going for- it's not scientific enough. Sci-fi field guide research

  Field guide with a science fiction twist- 'publication' The end result of this project is to produce a field guide (with a twist) that could be printed and sold by a publisher. I would like to have a dummy copy for the final exhibition. I will be documenting all progress on this blog.  Explanation of project: It will be a traditional folded format with images illustrated by me and text to accompany where appropriate. The premise is that the field guide has been written by an alien that has never been to earth. A lot of the information will be factual, and the drawings will be scientific, however some information will be blatantly false or misinformed, adding a comedic element to the work. I have always had a keen interest in the natural world and want this product to encourage others to take an interest, in a new way.
